| Kroger Gift Card Reward Program First Cumberland is announcing a new fundraiser. It is the Kroger Gift Card Reward program that many churches, schools, and other non-profit organizations use to raise funds for their groups. Many of you may be familiar with this program from your organizations. Kroger will give a 5% rebate to our church for all purchases made at Kroger using these gift cards. The beauty of the program is that it costs you nothing, but will give the church 5% on purchases you may already be making including groceries, prescriptions, and fuel. The cards cannot be used to purchase other gift cards. The card will cost $5 and will be your personal card. It will have $5 loaded on it to begin with. Every time the card is loaded (used), 5% will be credited to First Cumberland's account. When $5,000 has been loaded on our church's account, Kroger will issue a check for $250. Dallas Josey will be the contact person for the program. We will be selling the cards again this Sunday so that we can get the dollars rolling in. The cards will be sold in the foyer between services or you can contact Dallas to arrange getting a card. An info sheet with more details will be provided when the card is purchased. You can contact Dallas Josey at 662.893.3675 (home) or 901.413.8121 (cell). |
Rubbish to Renewal | Rubbish to Renewal Program The Stewardship Team has launched an ongoing recycling program that could have us "cleaning up in dollars and sense" as well as in our environment! For the collection of scrap metal, team member Horace Burford has volunteered to come to your house and haul away old heavy appliances, radiators, batteries, and any other scrap metal such as iron, brass, copper, etc. Please contact Horace or Cookie Burford at (662) 893-5996 or (901) 493-0183 to make arrangements to have your scrap metal picked up.
For the collection of aluminum cans or any clean aluminum (no labels, etc. attached), there are recycle bins behind the Alpha House. Please place your full large yard-size trash bags of aluminum in the recycle bins.
the Stewardship Team has a designated area in the Fellowship Hall.

Albert Hill Ballfield Fund | The Albert Hill Ballfield Fund Established Albert Hill, on behalf of himself and his wife, Molly, during the morning worship Sunday, December 28, 2008, presented FCPC with a check for $2000 to begin the Albert Hill Ballfield Fund. The church Session, in it's last meeting, approved the recommendation (of the Building and Grounds Ministry Team) to name our new ballfield after Albert Hill. Albert, with the help of White Construction and their equipment, was responsible for the new field being constructed on our church property. Albert and Molly want to see this place of recreation and ministry continue to be developed and, hopefully, in the future include a children's playground. Consequently, an Albert Hill Ballfield Fund has been established for that purpose. Donations to the Albert Hill Ballfield Fund may be made to the church. Please be sure to specify what the check is for. |
The Food Bank | The Olive Branch Emergency Food Bank The Olive Branch Emergency Food Ministry provides emergency food for up to seven days to Olive Branch area residents who are having a difficult time providing food and necessities for their family. There is a place designated in the church's foyer, by the front doors, for your much needed donations. |
Josiah Box | Josiah Box The wooden Josiah Box sits along the wall in the foyer of the church at the entrance to the Sanctuary. For many years, the Josiah Box has helped persons in need both inside and outside of our church's congregation. Most recently, the Josiah Box has purchased reading glasses for the Manna House and food/gas cards to feed someone who was hungry or provided help for them to get home. How long has it been since YOU have contributed to the Josiah Box? |
The Manna House | Manna House Join FCPC at the Manna House in Memphis, TN every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:00 am to 11:30 am. The Manna House's hospitality takes a variety of forms. They offer a place where people can come inside for conversation or rest. In warm weather, their guests enjoy a backyard with picnic tables. They offer hot coffee in cold weather, and Kool-Aid and cold water in warm weather. They also offer the use of a bathroom, a phone for local calls, showers that include a change of clothes, personal hygiene items, and additional, limited clothing items such as t-shirts and socks. In offering hospitality, the Manna House affirms that hosting guests involves not only providing needed material goods, but, more importantly, honoring guests' humanity and personhood. They are not a social service agency, rather, a persons welcoming other persons to share themselves, gifts, and gifts received from others. They seek to know their guests as persons with names, histories, and hopes. The Manna House is always collecting clothing, blankets, backpacks, and toiletries for the homeless guests. It's one way of showing concrete love and concern for their neighbor in need. Summer is a very hard time to be homeless. The Manna House relies on the generosity of their community to offer hospitality. They have a constant need for a variety of items including:
Travel size shampoo, soap, skin lotion, toothpaste, deodorant White athletic socks Men's pants--jeans and khakis: especially waist sizes 32, 34, 36, 38 Men's long sleeve shirts and T-shirts: especially L and XL and XXL Men's athletic shoes: all sizes Coffee and sugar Dark colored stocking caps Gloves Towels and washclothes Please bring your donations to FCPC and they will be delivered to the Manna House. |
